Barry K. Worthington
Executive Director, United States Energy Association
This is Barry Worthington’s 30th year as Executive Director of the United States Energy Association (USEA). Representing the broad interests of the U.S. energy industry, Mr. Worthington works tirelessly for all 150 USEA members from Fortune 500 companies to small energy consulting firms. Partnering with the U.S. Agency for International Development, the USEA promotes energy infrastructure in developing countries, and drives policy and technical discussions with the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE). Under Worthington, the USEA encouraged expansion of clean energy technology across the globe, including smart grid electricity projects in central Europe, geothermal drilling in sub-Saharan Africa, and pipeline expansion in the Balkans. Previously, he was Vice President of the Thomas Alva Edison Foundation, undertaking several roles with Houston Lighting & Power, now CenterPoint Energy.
With a long history of serving on various energy advisory boards and organizations, Mr. Worthington currently chairs the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe’s (UNECE) Group of Experts for Cleaner Electricity Production, and also serves on UNECE’s Committee on Sustainable Energy. In addition, Mr. Worthington serves as an energy industry liaison to SpaceCom, where his work with their Program Planning Committee is highly valued.
Mr. Worthington holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Man & Environmental Relations from the Pennsylvania State University and a Master of Science degree in Studies of the Future, from the University of Houston.
