Donald R. Proctor

Donald R. Proctor is the Founder and CEO of Bk97 Digital, which provides advisory services on product strategy, innovation, technology policy, and cybersecurity to companies and government agencies. Proctor also teaches graduate programs at UC Berkeley’s Haas School of Business, the UC Berkeley College of Engineering, and the University of San Francisco’s Silicon Valley Immersion program.

He lends his vast knowledge in this field to several esteemed boards and organizations, including his current role as board trustee at the Computer History Museum in Mountain View, CA. Additionally, he serves as chair emeritus at the Lawrence Hall of Science Advisory Board, which focuses on K-12 STEM education. Mr. Proctor is also a founding member of the advisory board for the National College Promise Campaign, and remains CEO of the Center for Cisco Heritage, the LLC maintaining Cisco’s historical archives.

Joining Cisco Systems, Inc. in 1995, Proctor held many leadership roles there. As a Senior Vice President, leading their Cybersecurity Task Force, Proctor worked to advance the safety, privacy, and integrity of critical infrastructure with worldwide government leaders in defense, civilian agencies, and the intelligence community. He also served as Senior Vice President and General Manager of Cisco’s software engineering group and was responsible for developing Cisco’s IOS software, network management, VoIP, web collaboration, and global government businesses. Early in his tenure, he led his product team in developing Cisco’s first integrated voice/data router. Prior to joining Cisco, he worked for software maker Sybase.

Mr. Proctor is a graduate of the University of California, Berkeley, and he formerly taught Internet technologies in the UC Berkeley Engineering Extension program.
